Courtney is a ‘visual listener’ and a storyteller who integrates graphics with architectural design, to create residential and commercial environments that dialogue between aesthetics, functionality, mission and ‘brand.’ Courtney is a collaborator in search of a beautiful process that constantly engages the vision and imagination of her client. She has worked with dream clients on dream projects—from Disney to homes, offices and retail spaces for celebrities and business executives. Clients including Queen Latifah, Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, Sony and Avalon Bay Communities, Inc. have all appreciated and come back for more of her thoughtful, thorough approach to personalizing their environments.

Courtney Sloane is an interior designer who tells stories within and around the places people live and work. After working in the architectural material side of the business with Formica Corporation for 8 years. Courtney had a vision of a design/build studio that has taken her on a journey from New York to St. Lucia from California to Taiwan from Reality TV to amusement attractions. The positive impact on clients’ lives of her customized design has always been fascinating to Courtney. What makes the difference is her desire to work across design disciplines, which open a path for diverse clients, attracted to her signature multi-disciplined design approach. After studying marketing at Rutgers University combined with her childhood passion for interior design she studied at Pratt and Fashion Institute of Technology. Courtney has created many exciting environments and furniture / furnishings for her clients. Her signature design style has been featured on the cover of New York Magazine, and recognized by that publication as one of its elite “99 New Yorkers” and “100 Best Architects and Designers.” House Beautiful honored her among the country’s “Top 101 Designers” for several consecutive years along with features in every major shelter magazines. Her TV appearances include hosting HGTV’s New York kitchen and bathroom show and she has been a frequent radio guest.

These successes enable her to give back through philanthropic ventures, notably Project INSPIRE, which she founded in 2005. Project: INSPIRE creates internships for high school and college students in the design industry. This internship program grew out of her long-standing commitment to mentoring minority students in their career choices by exposing them to the best that America design has to offer.

Courtney continues to challenge and expand her repertoire. She has always worked with small family owned fabrication companies and artisans. In 2011 she created a design import company focusing on the home décor market. The first collection of products were designed by Cheryl R. Riley and were made of some of the most beautiful tropical woods that Costa Rica has to offer. All the products are sustainable and made in the Americas in communities of indigenous artisans and sold online through All Modern. From 2013 – 2014 Courtney worked in Costa Rica designing a collection of pottery to be distributed in the US. The project is in partnership with the Pan American Development Foundation to build a value chain with a group of indigenous women potters in Guaitil, Costa Rica. In 2015 Courtney’s career long dream came true of opening her lifestyle boutique, in her hometown, Jersey City, NJ called “Sloane Square”. Sloane is especially proud to provide opportunities for students from her old high school and beyond. In 2017, Mrs. Sloane was selected to be a part of the “History Makers”.. The HistoryMakers is the single largest archival collection of its kind in the world designed to promote and celebrate the successes and to document movements, events and organizations that are important to the African American community and to American society.
